High Fructose Corn Syrup!

Weight Management, Lifestyle Issues and Saccharin

Saccharin!

It was the first widely available chemical sweetener.  You may recognize it in restaurants in the pink packets or as  “Sweet’N Low”.  Other names are: Sweet and Low, Sweet Twin, and Necta Sweet.  And look at what it is trying to portray.  Music that is relaxing???

At first glance that may not seem so bad as the first two ingredients are amino acids. Would you agree?  After all amino acids are the ingredients use to make different proteins which help our bodies function, right?

However when you think about how much pop and other diet food that a person can and does consume thought out the day, that can quickly start causing health issues. The reason why? Continue reading

Beating the Holiday Flu! Part 3

What have we talked about so far?

Here is a quick recap.

We talked about wheat and sugar being a problem because of the lack of nutritional value that our bodies need to keep us healthy.  Wheat has changed as a food that our bodies are familiar with and sugar as no nutritional value in it.  During the Christmas season or any holiday season for that matter, we often eat more cakes, cookies and other treats made from wheat and sugar.

Both set up cravings in our bodies which cause us to overeat.  This leads us to feeling full, bloating, gas heartburn, reflux, etc.

Why should we care especially if we love the food that we are eating? How does it affect us? Is there anything else we can do then to keep us healthy without losing the taste of our favourite foods? Continue reading
